Karen Tishler presented on the sale of local watersheds. Some community members fear the development of these areas will destroy local habitats and disrupt the watersheds which eventually empty into Lake Superior.

Developing Countries -- (view

Engineers Without Borders
The presenters (Kenneth Koers, an undergraduate Chemical Engineering student from Engineers Without Borders, and David Tobias, a graduate student in Environmental Engineering) talked about various sustainable building techniques from various cultures, including: Rammed Earth, Adobe, Timber/Lodge House, Straw Bale, and Sod Roof.
They may also touch on other sustainable building considerations such as site layout, passive solar, gutters/cistern collection of rainwater, cooling courtyards, etc ...
