Environmental Sustainability Committee (ESC)
Wednesday October 22, 2003 2:00-3:00 pm
Basement Conference Room of the Alumni House
Meeting Minutes
1. Attendance: Low at this meeting. Why?
The group decided it was a fluke. So, the meeting was
short and the topics listed below were divided up for
the specified people on the committee to lead a discussion.
2. ESC in the public eye: Kristine will
compile a list of ways that ESC has gone public,
whether through newspaper articles, activities,
etc.
3. Earth Week 2004: Heather will
initiate discussion as well as brainstorm on her
own about exciting ideas for ESC to organize during
Earth Week next year. One suggestion is to contact
Pam Schmidt at the GEM center and student groups.
4. Home Winterizing Event: Theresa will
be the head organizer for the event and will gather
ideas/suggestions at the next meeting. Almost all
members expressed interest in helping. This event
may be something similar to a “Tech Tea Time,” and
could include a panel of speakers to give mini-presentations
and probe questions.
5. Bill Sproule’s Transportation
Project: It deals with alternative transportation,
and Mike volunteered to look into this by the next
meeting. Basically, how can ESC become involved
in such an initiative?
6. Subcommittee Recruitment:
Bethany will help ESC create a list of people that
should be invited to join ESC’s subcommittees.
7. Goals and Budget: Shalini and Alexis
will begin a budget that may require some alterations
once the ESC creates a few goals for the year. Goals
will be discussed as a group at the next meeting.
8. Update on the Greenprint: Not much
progress has come about the GP since the last meeting.
9. Future meeting schedule (with tentative plan): October 5, 2003 2:00-3:00 pm Basement Conference
Room Alumni House
- Discuss as many as the above topics.
